Monday Morning

I have a love hate relationship with Mondays. On one hand, they signify the end of a weekend, but on the other hand the promise of a new week  is just too good to pass up.  That doesn’t mean I still loathe waking up, but it does mean that I’ve implemented some things into my morning routine that gets me ready for the rest of the day, and the rest of the week. IMG_0311

Waking up itself can be really challenging, but the best way I found to motivate myself to get out of bed is to think of how much time I could spend doing things, rather than lying in bed.  I bribe myself with more time to be productive.

When I finally get out of bed, I make myself change out of my pyjamas into something else.  I know I work best when I’m dressed up, so that’s what I do.  I don’t put my shoes of jewelry on or anything though, I just shuffle around my house in my half ready outfit with slippers and potential a sweater thrown on overtop.

Then of course comes breakfast.  I’m a firm believer in starting my day with some sort of food.  My go to tends to frequently change, but right now I’m loving avocado on toast topped with an egg.  It’s simple, but the perfect breakfast.  But more importantly than food there’s coffee/tea.  I have to  treat myself to a mug of something hot in the morning for it to be a good day.  Today I chose to make myself a (delicious) Oprah Chai Latte, and I’m still sipping on it and enjoying.  (Recipe coming soon!) IMG_6262

Then I do my hair and makeup.  I sit down at my desk in front of my mirror with my hot cup of something yummy and prep my face for the day!  Then after that, I pack my bags and head out, if I have somewhere to be, or I spread out my textbooks and get down to business.  IMG_6280I have a pretty simple morning routine, but there are things that I incorporate that set myself up for success for the day.  The way I see it is that your morning is the prequel to your day, and what you do in your first hour or so determines the mood for the rest of the day.

When I don’t spend the time to pamper myself in the morning, I definitely notice it.
